Kareem Abdul Jabbar was honoured with the "Ally Against Antisemitism Award" at the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre (FSWC)'s annual Spirit of Hope Gala.
We were given the opportunity to hear first-hand how Kareem advocates for justice and human rights in various diverse communities, as well as his experience as a public figure against antisemitism.
Not only is Kareem labelled one of the greatest basketball players to ever play, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama; the country's highest honour for civillians. He is the recipient of the Ford Medal of Freedom, the W.E.B> Dubois Medal of Courage, the Rosa Parks Award, the Double Helix Medal and he holds 8 honourary doctorate degrees.
