Consular Department FAQTable of Fees How do I apply for a Deferral of Military Status? Upon reaching the age of 16 and a half, every Israeli citizen, even if they are living or staying abroad for any reason, is obligated by the Defense Service Law to establish their status with the Israel Defense Forces authorities.
A person who is designated for defense service and is called to report under a general call up order must report in Israel at the place and at the time specified in the order.
If the person is located abroad, they can report to the diplomatic/consular representative at the Consulate. In order to do so, the following guidelines need to be followed:
1. Complete the form “Registration /Application to defer military service for Israeli citizens staying abroad”.
2. Appear in person (If the person reporting is a minor, they will have to be accompanied by one of the parents).
3. The passport of the person that is designated for defense service.
4. Photocopies of the parents’ passports
In order to arrange your military status via mail:
1. Complete the form “Registration /Application to defer military service for Israeli citizens staying abroad”.
2. Sign the form in front of a Notary Public
3. Mail the form to the Consulate.
Please note that if a decision is made to defer the service of a person designated for defense service, while they are staying abroad with their parents, a letter will be issued explaining the conditions and restrictions applying to the person in everything pertaining to the time frames of their visits to Israel.
Also note that the Israeli Defense Forces authorities may ask the person designated for defense service for further documentation, in which case the person will be notified by the diplomatic/consular representative.

How to apply for a B/2 visitor visa? The B/2 visa is granted to someone who wishes to stay in Israel for only a short time (for a visit, tourism, a business meeting or study in a Hebrew ulpan). A person who enters Israel on a B/2 visa is not allowed to work in the State of Israel. B/2 visa is valid for up to three months from the date of issue.
The process to be handled at the Consulate:
1. A travel document that is valid for at least six months beyond the period of the stay in Israel
2. A completed and signed application for a visa to enter Israel
3. Proof of the applicant's sufficient financial means for the visit to Israel (Bank Statement)
4. Order for round trip airline tickets to and from Israel
5. Proof of where you will reside during your stay in Israel, such as a hotel
6. Two passport pictures size 5x5
5. Payment of the fee - refer to the Consular Fees page
6. Invitation letter if applicable

How to apply for A/2 Student visa? Please note the following change to regulations:
The procedures have been updated and in order to obtain a student visa for religious institutions, seminars and Secondary schools, the student must be invited by the institution through the Ministry of Interior in Israel only.
The visa is valid for up to one year and for multiple entrances and exits. Recipients of this visa are not permitted to work in Israel.
The visa is granted to students who provide the following:
1. Completed and signed application for a visa to enter Israel
2. Two passport pictures size 5x5
3. Certification of acceptance for study at a recognized educational institution in Israel
4. Proof that the student has the financial means to pay for his studies and sustenance throughout his stay in Israel
5. A travel document that is valid for at least one year, provided that their country has a diplomatic mission in the State of Israel. If there is no such mission in Israel, the passport must be valid for the entire period of studies and another six months beyond that time
6. Payment of the fee - refer to Consular Fees page
7. Proof of down payment for the tuition fee

How Do I Apply for Confirmation of Non-Criminal Record? An appointment should be scheduled on our website.
You are required to bring:
The application form
Your Passport
The address of the requesting office, as well as your case number.
A fee of $15.00 for the mailing of the Police certificate inside Canada.
If you cannot appear in person, you can send the application form by mail along with a photocopy of your passport, or apply through the Israeli Police website (if Israeli). After one month, please contact the Consulate to check if the document arrived so that you may pay for registered mail.

How Do I extend a Passport? An Israeli passport cannot be extended beyond 5 years from the date of issue.
Important:
If your travel document was extended for a shorter period than usual you might need to arrange your army deferral, or you may need to visit Israel.
In order to extend passport for an adult at the Consulate you will need:
1. To bring your passport;
2. An application to extend your travel document - you will need to sign the application at the Consulate.
In order to extend passport for an adult via mail – you need to send by registered mail:
1. Your passport;
2. An application to extend your travel document - you will need to fill in and sign in where indicated;
3. Paid return envelope (registered mail) - see table of fees on our website.
In order to extend passport for a minor at the Consulate you will need:
1. To bring the minor’s passport.
2. To come to the Consulate with the minor.
3. An application to extend your travel document - you will need to sign the application at the Consulate.
If the parents are married, only one parent is needed at the Consulate, but he/she must bring both parents’ passports as well as the minor’s passport; in addition, both parents need to sign the application.
If the parents are separated, both parents need to sign the application at the Consulate or at any branch of the Ministry of Interior in Israel. The signature of one parent is permitted only in cases when a court order indicates that the parent has been given sole custody of the minor.

How Do I Register a Child Who Was Born Abroad to Israeli Citizens? Section 11 of the Registration of Population Law states that "A resident to whom a child is born abroad must notify the registration clerk of his child's registration details, within 30 days."
In order to register a child who was born abroad to Israeli citizens, one of the Israeli parents must appear in person before the diplomatic / consular representative at the mission and implement the registration process, during which the following will be required:
1. Filling out and signing the form Notification of the Birth of an Israeli Citizen Abroad
2. An original birth certificate with the names of both parents
3. Photocopies of the parents' passports
4. If the parents are married and there is no record to that effect in the Population Registry of the State of Israel, their verified marriage certificate must be presented
In order to issue a passport for a minor, one of the Israeli parents must appear in person with the child before the diplomatic / consular representative at the mission. The process of issuing a passport for a minor is as follows:
1. Fill out an application for a passport
2. Provide two passport pictures
3. Pay the fee
In the event that the mother is not an Israeli citizen, and the parents of the child are not married or the child was born less than 10 months after their marriage, the Israeli father must contact the mission for further instruction before appearing to register the child. | | |
How do I receive my passport/visa once my request is processed? Mail is returned by way of a self-addressed registered mail envelope that should be sent together with the documents that have been mailed to the Consulate. | | |
How do I Change My Marital Status? The State of Israel requires all citizens to notify the Government regarding a change in marital status even if the citizen is abroad.
In order to do so you will need to:
1. Download the form notification of change in marital status (marriage/divorce/widowhood).
2. Come to the Consulate.
3. Bring the original Canadian certificate (marriage/death or court order) supporting the change in status.
4. Bring your passport and your spouse’s passport.
5. Pay by credit card / debit card or money order.

If the certificate is from a State that signed The Hague convention, you will need an apostille stamp on the certificate.
