President Rivlin to make official visit to the European Union and Belgium

    President Rivlin will meet with King Philippe of Belgium as well as with European Union leaders and other senior figures from the EU, NATO, and the local Jewish community. He will also address a special plenary of the European Parliament.

    President Reuven Rivlin will leave tomorrow (Monday, 20 June 2016) on a four-day official visit to the European Union and the Kingdom of Belgium.

    The President will meet with President of the European Council Donald Tusk, President of European Parliament Martin Schulz, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg, and will deliver an address before a special plenary of the European Parliament.

    As part of his official visit to Belgium, the President will meet with His Majesty King Phillipe of Belgium, Prime Minister of Belgium Charles Michel, and Mayor of Antwerp Bart De Wever.

    The President will also meet with leaders of Belgium’s Jewish community, and together with First Lady Nechama Rivlin will visit the Red Star Line Museum, which tells the story of the migration and immigration of different communities and minorities. There the President will meet different faith community leaders.
