The director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Dore Gold, met on Thursday, 14 July 2016 with the president of Chad, Idris Deby Itno. They met in the president’s palace in the village of his birth, Amjaress, which is located in northern Chad, in the heart of the Sahara Desert.
The meeting took place in the wake of
PM Netanyahu’s visit to four African states, reinforcing the importance with which the prime minister views Israel’s relations with Africa.
Chad, an Arabic-speaking Muslim state, is a central state in the African continent. It is engaged in fighting radical Islamic terrorism. Its president is this year’s Chair of the African Union (AU).
The two leaders discussed topics of mutual interest to both countries, including ways to deepen bilateral cooperation between them.
