On May 8, Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau and Consul General, Galit Baram attended the "This is our legacy" gala.
The gala was organized as a celebration of the survivors of the Holocaust. It was co-sponsored by CIJA, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, March of the Living Canada and Jewish Federations of Canada (UIA).
During the ceremony the Prime Minister announced to the crowd his intention to make a formal apology in the House of Commons for the rejection of the Jewish refugee ship MS St. Louis during WWII.
CG Baram also addressed the crowd about her experience and memories as the decendent of survivors.
