On April 19th, the Consulate General of Israel marked 70 years of Israeli Independence with multiple events.
In honour of Yom Ha'atzmaut, four flag raising ceremonies were held across the Greater Toronto Area (Vaughan, Richmond Hill, City Hall and Queen's Park) earlier in the day. In attendance were representatives of all the major Canadian Jewish organizations as well as elected officials of all levels of government.
In the evening the Consulate hosted a gala reception at the Liberty Grand with over 500 people in attendance. Those delivering remarks to the crowd included the Consul General of Israel in Toronto Galit Baram and the Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne.
