Israel is a country of diverse faith communities which have historic ties to the land and its people. The Greek Orthodox Church is an important element in this religious mosaic.
The Consul General was honored to meet with His Eminence, Metropolitan Archbishop Sotirios Athanassoulas on February 20th as part of our continuing effort to expand interfaith relations. The Archbishop is the head of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto - Canada which is responsible for all Greek Orthodox followers in Canada. Together they spoke about issues of concern to the Orthodox community in the Middle East and about Church activity in Canada.
