As part of the ongoing effort by the Consulate General to deepen interfaith relations and dialogue between Canada and Israel, CG Baram visited the Archdiocese of Toronto last week. She was warmly greeted by His Eminence, Cardinal Thomas Collins. They discussed issues of concern for faith communities in the Middle East and Canada as well the deep ties between Israel and the Church. Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of official diplomatic relations between Israel and the Vatican. Both the Cardinal and Consul General were excited about the possiblity of a joint celebration and pledged to remain in contact. The meeting was an extremely encouraging beginning to what will become a closer working relationship between the parties.
