(Communicated by the Coordinator of Government Activities in Territories)
The Spokesperson for the
Coordinator of Government Activities in Territories says that on Tuesday, 15 November 2011, a plan to import building materials for the private sector in the Gaza Strip, was begun. This plan was carried out following staff work under the direction of Coordinator of Government Activities in Territories Maj.-Gen. Eitan Dangot, the IDF, and the security services in cooperation with UN representatives, the Quartet office, and the Palestinian Authority.
It has been agreed that building materials for the renovation and rehabilitation of 10 private sector factories will be imported, under a supervision and control mechanism designed by the international community in order to ensure that the raw materials reach their intended destinations and do not fall in to the hands of terrorist organizations. The Coordination and Liaison Administration at Erez crossing coordinated the entry of dozens of trucks, loaded with building materials, which started yesterday and will continue through the coming days.
The Spokesperson for the Coordinator of Government Activities in Territories emphasizes that Israel will continue to implement economic projects in the Gaza Strip, and carry out the policy that the Government committed to in the package of gestures that was been agreed to by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Quartet envoy Tony Blair in February 2011.
Furthermore, Israel holds in highest regard the involvement of the international community in implementing the civil policy towards the civilian population in the Gaza Strip that is not involved in terrorism.
