The Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest held its third regional Diplomatic Conference for Student Leaders on October 25-26, 2014. Over 30 student leaders from 18 campuses across the Midwest participated. Students heard from experts about the current political situation in Israel; BDS and challenges on campus; U.S. – Israel Relations; Israeli society; and the Israeli high-tech and entrepreneurial sectors. They also had the opportunity to network with their peers and strengthen their campus advocacy skills. Speakers included Consul General of Israel the Midwest, Roey Gilad; Deputy Consul General of Israel to New York, Amir Sagie; Consul for Political Affairs from the U.S. Embassy in Israel, Jonathan Berger; Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at The University of Iowa, Boaz Gaon; Assistant Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League, David Kurzmann; Founder and CEO of Tangiblee, Eliad Inbar; Senior Marketing Director of Alma Lasers, Mickey Nave, and Managing Partner and Chief Marketing Officer of Janvest, Brian Rosenzweig. The Consulate views academics as incredibly important, and we look forward to maintaining our connection with the student leaders that attended our Conference, and supporting them on their campuses.
One great example of the accomplishments of our Conferences is the creation and development of Students Supporting Israel (SSI). Founded at the University of Minnesota, it has quickly spread across North America, with chapters on 22 different college and university campuses. We would like to congratulate SSI for all of their hard work. To learn more about SSI, click HERE
