On Monday, March 9, 2015, Consul General of Israel to the Midwest, Roey Gilad, visited the University of Chicago’s Harris School for Public Policy. This visit was in response to an invitation to meet a group of 50 graduate students who will be travelling to Israel during their spring break on March 20-25, 2015.
The students will be visiting Israel on a Trek Israel program. They will travel to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and will speak to Israeli and Palestinian policymakers, as well as non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) and non-profit organizations. The students will also have time to tour museums, historical sites, and swim in the Dead Sea.
During his meeting with the students, the Consul General discussed Israel’s electoral system, the upcoming elections on March 17, 2015, and Israel’s economic situation. He answered questions about Iran, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and Israel’s Foreign Service.
