Omri Levy killed in Beersheba attack

  •   Sgt. Omri Levy, 19, of Sde Hemed was killed in a terror attack at the Beersheba Central Bus Station. The terrorist, armed with a pistol and a knife, then snatched the soldier's rifle, opening fire and wounding at least 10 Israelis.

    Omri Levy grew up in the moshav Sde Hemed in central Israel, near Kfar Saba. He attended the Emek Yarkon regional high school. Although he suffered from back problems, he succeeded in enlisting in the Golani Brigade. His unit's training was interrupted last week and was attached to the Gaza Division to cope with the disturbances there. He was on his way to his base at Nahal Oz when he was killed. A corporal at the time of his death, he was posthumously promoted to the rank of sergeant. 
    Omri's father Noam passed away several years ago from a sudden heart attack. After his father's death, Omri was the mainstay of his family.
    Sgt. Omri Levy was buried in Moshav Sde Hemed. He is survived by his mother Efrat, and his twin brother and sister, Ro'i and Yuval (16).
