How to revive a language

  •   Mr. Jeremy Tātere MacLeod, director of Te Reo, and Tikanga & Matauranga was hosted by the Ministry of Education in Israel where he acquaint himself with the revival of the Hebrew language

    Upon the request of Ambassador Y. Livne, Israel’s Ambassador to New Zealand and the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the department for adult education in the Ministry of Education hosted Mr. Jeremy Tātere MacLeod, DIRECTOR OF TE REO, and TIKANGA & MĀTAURANGA who arrived in Israel to acquaint himself with the revival of the Hebrew language.
    Mr. MacLeod visited 2 Ulpanim( Hebrew Language schools) on 14 October and was accompanied by the director of the Tel Aviv and Central region in the Department for Adult Education and observed the teaching and learning in 8 different classes. During his visit he met with the directors of the Ulpanim as well as the students and the teachers. He was briefed on the unique teaching methods and discussed possible future cooperation.
    Mr. MacLeod was received warmly by the staff and students. In one class he received a special greeting in Hebrew and in another he learned his first words in the language and later took part in an Israeli folk dance.
