Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman left on Saturday night (27 September 2014) to attend the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In the course of the visit, FM Liberman will meet with President of the UN General Assembly, Ugandan Foreign Minister Sam Kahamba Kutesa, as well as with the foreign ministers of Canada (John Baird), India (Sushma Swasrj), New Zealand (Murray McCully), Austria (Sebastian Kurz), Greece (Evangelos Venizelos), Rwanda (Louise Mushikiwabo), the Czech Republic (Lubomír Zaorálek), Vanuatu (Meltek Sato Kilman Livtuvanu), and Singapore (K Shanmugam). He will also meet with the President of the American Jewish Congress Jack Rosen, and attend a meeting at the Council on Foreign Relations.

FM Liberman will discuss bilateral and global issues with his counterparts, including the strengthening of their relations with Israel and the common struggle against world terrorism. On the Palestinian issue, Liberman is expected to tell them that the present Palestinian leadership is intransigent and does not allow progress towards an agreement but rather causing relations between the sides to deteriorate. The international community must draw the necessary conclusions with regard to the support it accords to Abu Mazen and to the Palestinian Authority under his leadership.
