  •

The long-awaited Anne Frank “let me be myself” exhibit opened on Wednesday night in front of local dignitaries and special guests. The private event included speeches from Anne Frank Exhibition NZ Chairman Boyd Klap, Holocaust Survivor Inge Woolf and Wellington Mayor Justin Lester. Israeli Ambassador to New Zealand Dr Itzhak Gerberg, DCM Kasa B. Harbor and Director of Public Affairs Patricia Deen also attended the opening.

The exhibition itself contains many pieces of memorabilia and artifacts from the war, including a replica of Anne Frank’s diary. Year 13 students from Tawa College have been trained to guide school groups from all around Wellington and to tell them about the story of Anne Frank and the Holocaust.

Hosted in the Nation’s Capital at the Great War Exhibition in the Dominion Museum, the exhibition is free and will be on display from Thursday, 24 May, until Sunday, 22 July. Opening hours are from 9am to 6pm.

The Anne Frank “let me be myself” exhibition is sponsored by the Embassy of Israel in New Zealand along with several other partners.
