The Anne Frank “let me be myself” free exhibition has officially opened its doors to visitors at the Dominion Museum in Wellington.

The long-awaited
Anne Frank “let me be myself” exhibit opened on Wednesday night in front of
local dignitaries and special guests. The private event included speeches from Anne
Frank Exhibition NZ Chairman Boyd Klap, Holocaust Survivor Inge Woolf and
Wellington Mayor Justin Lester. Israeli Ambassador to New Zealand Dr Itzhak
Gerberg, DCM Kasa B. Harbor and Director of Public Affairs Patricia Deen also
attended the opening.
The exhibition
itself contains many pieces of memorabilia and artifacts from the war,
including a replica of Anne Frank’s diary. Year 13 students from Tawa College
have been trained to guide school groups from all around Wellington and to tell
them about the story of Anne Frank and the Holocaust.Hosted in the
Nation’s Capital at the Great War Exhibition in the Dominion Museum, the
exhibition is free and will be on display from Thursday, 24 May, until Sunday,
22 July. Opening hours are from 9am to 6pm.
The Anne Frank “let me be myself” exhibition is sponsored by the Embassy of
Israel in New Zealand along with several other partners.
