Ambassador of Israel, Aharon Leshno-Yaar, is the first Israeli Ambassador to present his credentials to the Secretary General of NATO. The ceremony took place last Friday, September 16th 2016, at NATO's headquarters.

Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg congratulated the incoming Ambassador and said he values the increased cooperation between Israel and NATO in recent years. The two discussed the formulation of a new Joint Action Plan between Israel and the Alliance.

Israel welcomed the recent invitation by NATO to open a diplomatic mission at the Headquarters of the Atlantic Alliance in Brussels. Israel shares the values on which NATO is based and considers itself part of the transatlantic family. The diplomatic mission is expected to enhance substantially Israel's contribution to the organization.

Ambassador Leshno-Yaar:  “The State of Israel attributes great importance to its relations with NATO. The opening of a permanent office reflects Israel's role in promoting peace and stability in the region."
