The Political Department of the Israeli Mission to the EU represents Israel towards the various EU institutions centered in Brussels, primarily the European External Action Service, the Council of Ministers, the European Commission, and the European Parliament.
The Mission aims to bolster the infrastructure agreement between Israel and the European community. Moreover, this department strives to introduce new elements within the existing frameworks of cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels, to showcase the special Israeli-EU relationship in the spirit of the
Essen Declaration.
In addition to dealing with such crucial policy issues as the Middle East Peace Process, the Political Department is responsible for coordinating the work of the other sectorial departments of the Israeli Mission to the EU.
The European Union and Israel share a common history, marked by growing interdependence and cooperation. They share the same values of democracy, a respect for freedom and rule of law and are committed to an open international economic system based on market principles. Over five decades of trade, cultural exchanges, political cooperation and a developed system of agreements have fortified these relations.
