Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabi Ashkenazi welcomed the Guatemalan Government’s decision to recognize all wings of the Hezbollah organization as a terrorist organization. Guatemala is the twelfth country in the last eighteen months to recognize all wings of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization; Eight countries of the twelve did so in 2020.

FM Ashkenazi: “I am pleased to see that the multifaceted diplomatic effort, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and arms of the Ministry of Defense, for recognition of all wings of the Hezbollah organization as a terror organization is bearing fruit and is being recognized around the world in general and in Latin America in particular.

“I congratulate the Government of Guatemala and my counterpart Guatemalan Minister of Foreign Affairs Pedro Brolo on their decision to recognize Hezbollah as a terror organization, and call on other nations in Latin America to follow suit and fight Hezbollah-backed terrorism around the world.

“The struggle against Hezbollah is protracted and arduous, but the fact that the global campaign against the organization is inflicting severe damage should not be ignored. The strongest manifestations of this can be seen in the disgust that many Lebanese citizens feel towards the organization for the disaster it has inflicted on them."
