    EU-Israel innovation seminar focuses on venture capital

    The Place of Venture Capital in the Innovation Ecosystem – this theme has brought together leading Israeli and European policymakers, businesspeople and academics, at the EU-Israel Innovation Seminar, held each year by the EU Delegation to Israel, as part of the DLD Innovation Festival in Tel Aviv. This year's seminar is co-organized with the EU Member States, IATI (Israel Advanced Technology Industries) and ISERD (the Israel-Europe R&D Directorate).

    Speaking at the opening of the seminar yesterday, Head of Delegation Lars Faaborg-Andersen, thanked Israeli high-tech leader Yossi Vardi for suggesting that this year's seminar be part of the DLD Innovation Festival. Noting that the seminar was attended by close to 50 European representatives from 15 EU Member States, joined by around 60 Israeli colleagues and colleagues from the EU embassies, he added that "This great turnout is an indication of the importance that both sides attach to cooperation in the fields of research and innovation. It also shows, I believe, that we understand that we have a great deal to learn from each other."
