Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman led the Israeli delegation at the annual Israel-EU Association Council meeting in Brussels. The EU was represented by Dr. Erato Kozaku Markoullis, Foreign Minister of Cyprus, and Štefan Füle, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy.

The representatives of the EU and Israel took stock of bilateral relations and the work done in the previous year to further realize the potential of the existing ENP action plan. Both sides committed themselves to developing their partnership which provides for close political and mutually beneficial trade and investment relations together with economic, social, financial, civil scientific, technological and cultural cooperation.

In addition to bilateral relations, the consultations touched on the situation in Syria, the need to add Hizbollah to the EU's list of terrorist organizations, the Iranian nuclear threat and the prospects of the Middle East Peace Process.
