This weekend, the representative of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, Omer Caspi, and his family attended the opening of the Torah and Culture exhibition "Island in the East" in Artrue gallery in Tainan.
The exhibition features a unique cultural dialogue between Yoram Raanan, an Israeli artist and Ebu Istanda, an artist from the Bunun aboriginal tribe in Taiwan. The artists explore the roots and beliefs of their heritage, and show deep feelings to their land. This is being expressed by Yoram Raanan in paintings of scenes from the Hebrew bible, and by Ebu Istanda that painted legendary stories that were passed to her from childhood by elders of the tribe.
Symbolically, the opening of the exhibition took place on the national day of Aboriginal Peoples in Taiwan, during which the world renowned Bunun pasibutbut indigenous group performed a ritual ceremony.
A beautiful artistic performance was given by the “Holiness Church” choir and orchestra that marveled at playing a piece from the renowned play “Fiddler on the Roof”.
This is not the first time that Artrue gallery promotes Israeli artists, and showing their love and devotion to Israel.
