The Consulate's staffs accompanied by the instructor, had a tour in the expanded Jewish Refugee Museum firstly. The new Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum has a total area of more than 4,000 square meters. Except for the original site of the former Ohel Moshe, the exhibition hall and square of the Museum have been expanded and upgraded. The exhibition area has been expanded to 4 times and the exhibition area has been expanded by 10 times. Everyone appreciated for the interior design and layout of the new exhibition hall of the Museum which exhibits more abundant collections. The whole new exhibition is divided into 6 parts, Escape to Shanghai, Life in refuge,After the war, Special friendship, and Sharing the future. It tells the touching stories of how the Jews escaped from the Nazi genocide during World War II, how they came to Shanghai Hongkou, and how the Chinese people helped them friendly.

After the tour, Edward Shapira, the Consul General of Israel in Shanghai delivered a speech. He said that International Holocaust Remembrance Day is a very meaningful day. On January 27, 1945, the Soviet Red Army liberated Auschwitz concentration camp. On November 1, 2005, the 60th United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 60/7, designating January 27 as the annual International Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust. This special day is an important day to remember the universal lessons of the Holocaust. WeRemember! I have been to the Jewish Refugee Museum many times, and in my opinion, it is one of the best and most distinctive museums in China! This Museuml is another Jewish home in Shanghai. In World War II, Shanghai people who lived in Hongkou District helped the Jews who fled here. This history will be remembered by the Jews forever, thank Shanghai!

Curator Chen Jian also delivered a speech before the film screening. He said that I am very happy to see the Consul General and Deputy Consul General, Mor Ben Moshe visited the Museum several times. This is the fifth time that the Consul General has been here, and the second time that the Deputy Consul General has visited our Museum. The diplomats of the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai frequently visit us, shows the close relationship between the Museum and the Israeli Consulate General in Shanghai. This is the best basis for cooperation. Today we are holding this International Holocaust Remembrance Day Event together, which is a very meaningful event. A good film tells the truth, and I also look forward to future works about Jewish refugees in Shanghai. Finally, welcome everyone again.
