On December 19, the "30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Israel –Evening of Israeli Culture" was held in the China-Israel (Shanghai) Innovation Hub. Mr. Edward Shapira, the Consul General of Israel in Shanghai, Eytan Halon, the Deputy Consul General of Israel and Yao Rulin, the Deputy District Mayor of Putuo District attended the event.

Edward Shapira delivered an opening  remark in the event. “This is a day of celebration for CIIH, which has already become a very well-known platform for Israeli-Chinese cooperation in Shanghai. We are trying to promote this platform also as an Israeli ecosystem here in Shanghai, offering a stage for cultural and academic exchange-all the time and even during the very challenging times of the pandemic and many restrictions. On a personal note- I was privileged to serve as Consul General of Shanghai in such an amazing city like Shanghai- which played a very important role in the Jewish history of the 20th century and our people to people interactions”, he said.

A Hero Brand Pavilion was officially unveiled. An Israeli modern art exhibition was also held in the CIIH. The exhibition not only reflected the innovation of Israeli art, but also showed the similarities with Chinese culture . Israeli dancer Aviv Grinfeld gave a dance performance on the spot, and the famous Israeli pianist Dr. Michael Tsalka played the piano. The cultural night provided traditional Israeli Hanukkah delicacies such as challah, Shakshuka and potato pancakes. Let’s looking forward to the next glorious 30 years of China-Israel cooperation!
