Prof. Gustavo Mesch, the Rector of the University of Haifa attended the inauguration ceremony of ECNU-Haifa University Joint Transational S&T Research Institute.
ECNU-UH Joint Translational Science and Technology Research Intitution (hereinafter refered to as"Joint Translational Institute
)was established by East China Normal University in 2016 as a Sino-foreign joint institute bewteen East China Normal University and University of Haifa. Based on the background that Shanghai and Haifa are sister cities to each other, East China Normal University and University of Haifa planned to establish a demonstrative institute with the intergation of production, teaching and research in Shanghai by making full use of the high-quality resources of the two universities and introducing Israeli advanced experience in the field of translational science and technology. Based on the high-level scientific research cooperation of the two universities' dominant disciplines, Joint Translational Institute takes the lead in carrying out in-depth cooperation in the four fields of biomedicine,ecology and environmental engineering, neuroscience, and data science to cultivate high-level applied scientific and technological talents with innovative spirit and international vision, and to bulid an innovation base of interdisciplinary translational science and technology.
Joint Translational Institute will jointly train excellent doctoral and master students and recruit postdoctoral researchers, committed to train world-class innovative and entrepreneurial talents.
The establishement of Joint Translational Institute will actively promote the construction of Minhang National Science and Technology Achievement Transfer and Transformation Demonstration Zone, National Intellectual Property Rights Demonstration Zone and the development of Science and Technology Innovation Center in South Shanghai, actively participate in and support the construction of "Sino-Israel Innovation Park in Shanghai", and play an imporant role in building Shanghai into a science and technology innovation center with global influence.
