Consul General David meets with Governor Parnell

    ​Consul General Andy David met with Governor Sean Parnell to strengthen state ties and tighten the connection between the people of Alaska and Israel. This connection, however, is not new. There has been a special bond between Alaska and Israel since 1949 when Alaska Airlines took part in "Operation Magic Carpet" where  thousands of Yemenite Jews were airlifted to the newly created nation of Israel.
     
    "On The Wind Of Eagles: Alaska's Contribution To Operation Magic Carpet" is currently on exhibit at the Alaska Jewish Museum and Cultural Center.
