    General Information

    All Israeli citizens abroad, both minors and adults, must carry a valid Israeli passport or laissez-passer/travel document with them at all times. The passports and laissez passer/travel documents issued by the State of Israel to its citizens are the property of the State of Israel and should be carefully safeguarded.

    Note that Israeli citizens are required by law always to enter and exit Israel with an Israeli passport or laissez-passer/travel document.

    All applications for a passport renewal are for a new passport, not an extension!
    Passport extensions are only possible for a passport that has been issued less than 5 years ago for a period of less than 5 years. to check if you are eligible for an extension please contact the consular department before​ sending an application. 

    Processing time for passport renewal is 21 business days. 

     

     Renewing by mail

    ​​If you answer 'Yes' to ALL questions below you can apply for a new passport by mail:​

    ·         You are 18 y/o or older.

    If 'No' see renewing a passport for a minor

    ·         You have established your military status (for those under 30).

    If 'No' click here

    ·         You have your passport in your possession to submit with your application. (Not first passport, not stolen or lost).

    If 'No' see lost, stolen, or damaged passport or laissez-passer/travel document

    ·         The passport is undamaged other than normal wear and tear.

    If 'No' see lost, stolen, or damaged passport or laissez-passer/travel document

    ·         You traveled to Israel at least once in the last 10 years.​

    If 'No': citizens who haven’t traveled to Israel in the last 10 years must apply in person at the consulate. You will receive a one-year passport/extension until the next time you will visit Israel.​

     

    In all other cases that do not meet the conditions written above, applications for travel documents or passports can be done only in person at the consulate. You must make an appointment in advance through the website.

    Each application will be reviewed to check the citizen's eligibility for a travel document, the type of document, and its validity.

     

    How to apply by mail

    Please provide the following documentation

    · A completed and signed application form

    Please include in the application form your U.S home address.

    ·         Current passport

    If this is an application for a first adult passport (the last one was issued to you as a minor) you must submit one of the following with your application: a color copy of your US or another foreign passport, a copy of your green card or a copy of your driver's license.

    ·         Two passport photos (2x2”, color, on a white background, American passport standard), taken within the last 3 months – standard American passport photos

    ·         Payment of the fee and return method

    Payment may be in the form of:
    1. Credit or debit card – please fill out a payment form​. American Express will not be accepted.
    2. Cashier's Check/Money Order (not a personal check) - should be addressed to the consulate general of Israel to the Pacific Northwest​

      

    Receiving the passport back from the Consulate:

    We recommend sending a prepaid return envelope with your mail or pre-paid FedEx label.

    If not provided, we will return the passport via FedEx. Payment of an additional fee is required (see pricing on the payment form).To use this delivery method, the fee must be paid when the application is submitted.

     Renewing a Passport for a Minor

    The minor is required to visit the Consulate in person with the parents.

    If the records of the Israeli Ministry of the Interior indicate that the parents are married only one parent is required to visit the consulate.

    The parents'  Israeli passports are required. 

    Divorced, separated, common-law spouses, single parents, or those who haven’t updated their status in the Ministry of Interior records must submit written consent from both parents. You can sign the consent form in the presence of a consul in any Israeli mission abroad, or at an office of the Population and Immigration Authority.

    Please provide the following documentation

    ·    A completed and signed application form

    ·         Current passport

    ·         Two passport photos (2x2”, color, on a white background, American passport standard), taken within the last 3 months – standard American passport photos


    As of February 23rd, 2023, there is no exception for those who live in other states.

       Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Passport or Laissez Passer / Travel Document

    In order to apply for a new passport or travel document, you must visit the Consulate in person.

    If your passport or laissez-passer/travel document is lost or stolen, you must report it to the local police immediately.

    Please provide the following documentation

    ·  A completed and signed application form​

    Please include in the application form your U.S. home address.

    ·  A completed and signed Declaration of Loss / Theft / Destruction of a Passport or Laissez Passer​

    ·         Two passport photos (2x2”, color, on a white background, American passport standard​), taken within the last 3 months – standard American passport photos.

    ·         Police report (for lost or stolen passport/ laissez-passer only)

    ·         Israeli government-issued photo ID (driver's license, Teudat Zehut, or any other photo ID).

    If you do not have any kind of Israeli ID, please bring any other photo ID you have.

    Citizens who haven’t traveled to Israel in the last 10 years

    You must apply in person at the consulate. You will receive a one-year passport/extension until the next time you visit Israel. For citizens who have not visited Israel for more than 5 years, their passports will be limited and will expire 10 years from the date of their last visit to Israel.
