REGISTERING AN ISRAELI CHILD BORN ABROAD

​Registering an Israeli child born abroad

    This service enables parents who are Israeli citizens living abroad to register a child born abroad at one of the Israeli missions located throughout the world.

    By law, Israeli citizens must report any change in their marital status or of a birth of a new child within 30 days.​

  • Conditions for receiving the service

  •  
    ​• One parent must be an Israeli citizen.
    • Both parents must be present.
    • If the parents wish to register a child who is under 18 years of age without making additional requests, such as applying for a passport, the child’s presence is not required.
  • Required documents

  •  
    ​• A completed and signed Notification of the Birth of an Israeli Citizen Abroad form
    • A completed and signed Application for Changes, Supplemental Information, and Corrections in the Population Registry Information
    • One parent must be an Israeli citizen.

    Both parents must be present.

     If the parents wish to register a child who is under 18 years of age without making additional requests, such as applying for a passport, the child’s presence is not required.     The child’s original, authenticated birth certificate – with apostille​
    The passports of the parents.
    Confirmation of birth - Mother's Record of Birth:
    Evidence of birth is required to verify that it is the birth of a biological mother and not an adoption, or other legal procedure (such as surrogacy). Unequivocal evidence can be:
    • Hospital certificate attesting to birth
    • Hospitalization documents or a discharge letter from the hospital
    • Pregnancy follow-up starting from the third trimester

    ​In the case of an Israeli parent that was born abroad- registering the child in the consulate is not possible under certain terms. Contact the department directly to check your status.

    In the case that the parents are not married and only one of the parents is Israeli - proof of marital relationship at least 300 days before the child's birth must be presented or if the non-Israeli parent is Jewish eligible for Aliyah from the Jewish Agency can be presented instead.  ​

    In the case that the parents did not register their married in the Israeli registry

    2.       If one of the parents is not Israeli - proof of a marital relationship at least 300 days before the child's birth must be presented or if the non-Israeli parent is Jewish eligibility for Aliyah from the Jewish Agency can be presented instead.

    Proofs of marital status can be rent agreements, utility bills that include both names, joint​ bank accounts, tax reports insurance, etc. and can be subject to approval from the ministry before the registration of the child.
