    Job Description

    There is a vacancy for a permanent, full-time position as the Cultural Officer at the Embassy of Israel to Norway and Iceland in Oslo. This position is part of the embassy's political department, and you will be working closely with the embassy's diplomatic staff.

     

    As the Cultural Officer, you will be responsible to advise, promote and initiate current cultural affairs.

    You will have responsibilities related to the following areas:

    Follow up and develop the embassy's relations with local and Israeli artists, organizations and places of cultural interest;

    Responsible for all the SoMe accounts of the embassy, with a lot of freedom and consultations with the DCM.

    Maintain and promote cultural and academic collaborations by individual meetings and expanding contacts to newer horizons;

    Maintain and promote the diversity of Israel in the Norwegian/Icelandic cultural landscape.

     

    Central tasks include, but are not limited to:

    Responsible for maintaining the embassy’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter;

    Provide professional assessments and to prepare decision-making bases for the diplomatic team;

    Analyze important developments in local media, both digital and print;

    Updates and assist diplomats in preparation of meetings;

    Coordinate performances and events by artists and organizations.

    You should be creative and self-driven, and are expected to work both independently and as a player of a fast-paced embassy-team. You will also build a professional network with important players in the cultural scene in both Norway and Iceland.

     

    Qualifications and Experience 

    Higher education, at least at an undergraduate level;

    Excellent oral and written communication skills in Norwegian and English. Icelandic is definitely a plus;

    Very good written and oral presentation skills;

    Knowledge of current trends on social media;

    It is also an advantage, but not a requirement if you have:

    Experience from working in an international environment;

     

    Personal characteristics 

    Outgoing, proactive, independent, flexible and ability to show initiative;

    Good collaboration and communication skills;

    Analytical skills and ability to present complex matters briefly and precisely;

    Ability to work at a fast pace with short deadlines

    Innovative thinking and solution-minded

    Contribute to a positive working environment

     

    Available to occasionally work beyond regular office hours - with pay.

    Salary: To be determined based on educational background and experience.
