    Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem

    An Israeli woman seeking a divorce (get) from her estranged husband finds herself effectively put on trial by her country’s religious marriage laws in this powerhouse courtroom drama from sibling directors Shlomi and Ronit Elkabetz.
     
    Jungjin Lee: Unnamed Road
    March 6-April 18, 2015, 300 W. Superior St., Chicago.
    Andrew Bae Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of work by Korean photographer Jungjin Lee. Lee’s latest series approaches the contested territories of Israel and the West Bank through landscape photography imbued with an elemental vastness that is at once powerful and serene.
     
    Orchestra of Exiles

    It was dangerous to be a good person in central Europe. “Orchestra of Exiles” salutes one of the people who dared to take that course, Polish violin virtuoso Bronislaw Huberman. The amazing story of the formation of one of the world's greatest orchestras, the Palestine Symphony Orchestra (later known as the Israel Philharmonic).
    Keren Cytter
    March 28-October 4, 220 E Chicago Ave, Chicago.
    Renowned Israeli multidisciplinary artist Keren Cytter presents her first large-scale solo exhibition in the United States at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibition will also include a new series of drawings and live performance works. Related programs include an MCA Talk with Keren Cytter on March 28 and an MCA Talk with curator Naomi Beckwith on May 12.
     
    Kfar Vradim Youth Band
    April 5, 2015, 1100 E. Hyde Park Blvd., Chicago.
    Established in 1999, Kfar Vradim Youth Band is made up of 60 young musicians, ages 12 to 18. They have toured the world, with the goal of developing understanding through music.  The Band’s repertoire includes Israeli folk songs, jazz, pop and show tunes. They have participated in band competitions and won international prizes. They will be arriving in Chicago after a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
     
    Anat Cohen at City Winery
    April 10, 2015, 1200 W Randolph St., Chicago.
    Onstage or on record, the music of Anat Cohen positively glows and never more brightly than on her seventh album as a bandleader, Luminosa. Luminosa sees the clarinetist/saxophonist play singing, dancing originals, interpret Brazilian classics by the likes of Milton Nascimento, and even re-imagine electronica as acoustica with an ingenious arrangement of a Flying Lotus tune.
