GovXShortDescription
Margolin is one of several north-shore athletes who will be participating in this week's Maccabiah Games, the world's largest Jewish athletic competition, July 18-30 at various locations throughout the state of Israel.
The Maccabiah Games, first formed in 1932, has previously attracted well-known Olympic athletes including swimmer Mark Spitz and gymnasts Kerri Strug and Mitch Gaylord. Delegations are represented from North America, Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. But the competition is only one of the attractions for athletes like Margolin.

Chicago Tribune (Local):
"This is definitely something I'll remember my whole life," said Margolin, speaking from his hotel near Tel Aviv. Margolin is a two-time Central Suburban pitcher this past spring for Glenbrook North, who will pitch, catch and play outfield for Team USA. "The whole experience is going to be great. I'm going to see Israel for the first time and play baseball. It doesn't get much better than that."
Margolin is one of 16 members of Team USA, selected during an open tryout in Chicago. He will be joined at the games by school-mate Maddie Khan (tennis), former Glenbrook South and current Beloit College softball player Jen Zucker, former Glenbrook South soccer player David Abidor as well as badminton players from Vernon Hills (Shannon Pohl) and Deerfield (Marissa Levy).
