Dir. Tamar Tal, Israel, 2011, 60 min.

Winner of Israel’s award for Best Documentary, Life in Stills follows the opinionated, uncompromising 96-year-old Miriam Weissenstein and her grandson Ben as they join forces to save the family business, “The Photo House,” and her late husband and photographer Rudi’s legacy. By turns touching, devastating and humorous, the film tenderly details the relationship that is forged between the two as they fight to save the shop and its nearly one million negatives that document Israel’s defining moments, and one family’s history. Hebrew and German with subtitles.
