Israeli, Mexican Communities Celebrate 60 Years of Friendship

Chicago Marks 60 Years of Israel-Mexico Friendship

    The Israeli and Mexican communities gathered together on Saturday, October 27 for an evening of film, food, and dancing.  The evening began with a screening of "Salsa Tel Aviv," which tells the story of a Mexican Salsa instructor who falls in love with an Israeli professor.  After the film, all 250 guests gathered at Northwestern's Thorne Auditorium for salsa party and dancing.  Chips,Pitas and Salsas were served with Cervazas and Israeli wine. Consul for Public Affairs, Maya Karmely, joined with the Mexican Cultural Attaché Beatriz Margain, in welcoming the crowd and expressing gratitude for the 60 successful years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.  The film was part of the Chicago Festival of Israeli Cinema, ongoing until November 4.  For more information, visit our website.
