About:
Long considered one of the most dynamic and vibrant performers in the world. Mr. Broza’s charismatic and energetic performances before world-wide audiences bring a fusion of the three different countries in which he was raised: Israel, Spain and England. He has filled concert halls with his famous guitar playing that ranges from flamenco-flavored rhythmic and percussion techniques to whirlwind finger picking to a signature rock and roll sound.
More than a singer/songwriter, Mr. Broza is also well known for his commitment and dedication to humanitarian causes, predominantly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Since 1977 he has worked to bring the message of peace to the masses by joining peace movements and singing what has become the anthem of the peace process, his hit song “Yihye Tov.”
This year Mr. Broza has been touring the world with songs from his latest album, East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem. The album was made at the Sabreen studio in Palestinian East Jerusalem. On each of the album's 13 tracks, he is accompanied by a number of Israeli and Palestinian musicians and singers, including the Arab/Israeli singer Mira Awad. To produce the album, Mr. Broza brought in Americans Steve Greenberg and Grammy award-winner singer/songwriter Steve Earle; the album has been released on Mr. Greenberg’s S-Curve label.
Furthermore, a behind-the-scenes feature length documentary, East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem, has been made about Mr. Broza and his latest album. The film had its world premiere last October at the opening of the 15th annual Woodstock Film Festival, and had been screened last month at the Other Israel Film Festival in New York City.. It had its Israeli premiere last week at the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival.
Mr. Broza’s album Night Dawn: The Unpublished Poetry of Townes Van Zandt was released in 2010 to worldwide critical acclaim. In July 2011, the album Third Language was launched, the first one since 2002’s Ze Hakol o Klum (It’s All or Nothing) to have all the lyrics and music written by Mr. Broza. One of his latest projects is “Poetry From the Bench,” a new web series dedicated to intimate and live renditions of poetry.
