Shalom Club Myanmar, an organization representing the alumni from Myanmar, who took part in courses, seminars and trainings offered by MASHAV, hosted a special first get together event on 19th August 2013 in MTCT Park, Yangon in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Diplomatic relations, between the State of Israel and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
MASHAV - Israel's International Agency for Development Cooperation, has been offering scholarships for Myanmar people, from the private and the public sectors, including NGO's, on topics such as Agro-Technology, Water Management, Gender equality, Rural Development, Education, Health and many more.
The event titled "Sixty Years of Cooperation and Friendship", was honored with the presence of H.E. U Myint Swe (Chief Minister, Yangon Regional Government), Ministers from Yangon Region Government, H.E. U Ba Shwe (Union Deputy Minister for Science & Technology), H.E Mr. Mattanya Cohen (Director of Training Department, Israel Agency of International Development Cooperation) and H.E. Mr. Hagay M. Behar (Ambassador of Israel to Myanmar), as well as nearly 70 Shalom Club members. It was held in the Myanmar Info Tech and covered by a large number of local journalists and TV channels.
These programs, which are based on the transfer of technological skills and human resource enrichment are aimed to contribute to the capacity building in the country. According to the records, over the last 60 years, more than 400 Myanmar citizens have participated in such courses.
