Nowadays, political stalemate between Israel and Palestine, struggling for democratic changes by means of demonstrations and armed rebellion in the countries around Israel and  instability  in the Strait of Hormuz and Persian Gulf  are the significant situation in the Middle East.

In such a situation, Middle East Seminar for Diplomats from the Asia-Pacific Region was held under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel. It was first time and a unique event between Israel and the countries from Asia-Pacific Region.

Mid-Level participants from the Asia-Pacific Region had attained precious knowledge and experience and had opportunity to share their views and opinion with the Israeli authorities and  people  in political, economic and social areas.

We have opportunity to study ancient and modern Israeli cities, places of interest and tourist attractions such as old city of Jerusalem, Holocaust Museum, OLD JAFFA in Tel Aviv, MASHAV, MIFALOT, NA LAGA’AT Center, Army base in northern Israel, Hi-Center in Haifa, Bahai Temple, IGUDAN/SHAFDAN, Peres Center for peace and BETTER PLACE.

Peace making programs between  Jews and Arab of MIFALOT and Peres Center are the significant activities. Those activities encourage me  for  my desire in realizing the establishment of State of Israel and Palestinian State independently.   I had  different feelings and excitements at the places as mentioned above.  Actually, it is true to say that   “ Seeing is believing “.

To sum up, as the Middle East Seminar was successful and  cooperation, understanding and confidence-building between Israel and the countries from ASIA-PACIFIC  Region could be enhanced, I would like to suggest that such a Seminar should be held in future as well.

The above story is shared by U Tin Win, Deputy Director from Ministry of Foreign Affairs who went to Israel to participate in Middle East Seminar for Diplomats from the Asia-Pacific Region from 21th to 25th October 2012.
Thanks so much for your story on your visit, U Tin Win!
