80 years ago, on April 19th, 1943, Jewish fighters took up arms against Nazi Germany. The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was the first major armed struggle against Nazi oppression that has become the ultimate symbol of the struggle for human dignity.

Five years later, with the help of Jewish organizations, the Nathan Rapaport monument was erected in the ruins of the former Jewish quarter of Warsaw. The monument and its replica at the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem have become centers of commemoration of the Holocaust and Jewish heroism.
