Over the past 48 hours, Hamas and other terror organizations in the Gaza Strip have fired more than 1,000 missiles and rockets at the state of Israel.

The rockets were fired at Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and other parts of the country.

This is a planned move by Hamas and Islamic Jihad to attack Israel and damage the sanctity of the Holy city of Jerusalem.

The terror organizations in the Gaza Strip, led by Hamas, have crossed the line, targeting again and again the civilian population in Israel.

Israel did not want this escalation, but whoever chooses to escalate the situation and attack our citizens, must know we will respond accordingly.

Israel has taken a variety of measures and efforts to prevent friction and violence and to allow freedom of worship in Jerusalem during this period: The Supreme Court granted the Attorney General’s request and postponed the hearing on the Sheikh Jarrah's case.

The police made a decision to change the route, and later cancel the traditional flag parade and not to allow Jews to ascend the Temple Mount, the most holly place for Jews, on Jerusalem Day and at the same time, allowed tens of thousands of Muslim worshipers to reach the mountain and hold Ramadan prayers there.

Hamas, on the other hand, continues to commit double war crimes - attacking the civilian population in Israel, out of areas of civilian population in the Gaza Strip, which serves as a human shield for Hamas terrorists. Hamas decision to incite violence is driven by Political reasoning, as a result of the PA’s decision to postpone the elections.

The IDF attacked targets of Hamas's terrorist activities, including infrastructure and weapons production, eliminated senior commanders and demolished buildings used by the terror organizations.

Israel is doing everything in its power to avoid hurting civilians.

Peace and security must be restored, it is the right and duty of every state to protect its citizens.

Israel and the defense forces are ready for any scenario and any development, including a large-scale military operation, if required.

We call upon the international community to strongly condemn the rockets fire and Palestinian terrorist acts against Israeli citizens and to support Israel's right to self-defense.
