    Shalom Dear Friends,
     
    I would like to thank all of you who stood in solidarity with the State of Israel during the last 8 days which have been distressing in the face of incessant terrorist attacks from Hamas in Gaza.
     
    Israel embarked on operation Pillar of Defense after the frequency of the terror attacks originating from Gaza increased over the last few months. A total of over 1,500 rockets were fired at Israel since 10th November.
    The aim of Operation Pillar of Defense was to remove a strategic threat to Israeli citizens by protecting Israeli civilians and by crippling the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza.
    All of Israel’s actions have been taken in self-defense because it is the duty and right of every sovereign state to protect its civilian population from attack. The operation accomplished its goals.
     
    It has indeed been encouraging and wonderful to see your love, warm wishes and support for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist attacks.
     
    Besides all these challenges of terrorism, Israel is committed to strengthening its bilateral ties and solidifying diplomatic relations with Kenya and the entire East Africa region.
