As the world marks the Earth Day, H.E. Oded Joseph joined leaders world over in celebrating the Day at the Israel Forest in Uplands and at Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI).
The Israel Forest was adapted by the State of Israel in 2017, and the Embassy has been spearheading the afforestation of tree seedlings on the land in partnership with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), and the Community Forest Association (CFA).
The exercise saw an extra 3,000 trees planted in addition to over 10,000 other trees that have already grown at the Israel Forest.
At the Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI), Amb. Joseph will joined Education Managers, and in a bid to contribute to an ongoing partnership with the Institution, inaugurated a high capacity Israeli technology BIOGAS KIT, that provides cooking gas from organic waste, as well as WASTE RECYCLE BINS, to the MASHAV Education Alumni who have continued to engage and teach on Education for Sustainable Development Practices, skills they learnt from Israeli educators, through a cooperation between the Education Ministries of both countries.
“World Earth Day emphasizes our responsibility as inhabitants of the Earth to take care of our habitat, as well as leave a better place for those who will come after us. Israel, through our Aid agency MASHAV is determined to cooperate with governments, private sector, corporate companies and non-governmental organizations to ensure that we have a safe home on Earth and generations after us will find a habitable environment,” says Amb. Joseph.
