    Weekly News Digest – December 13, 2021.
    1. On International Day of People with Disability (December 3), we spent time with children living with disability, from Light & Hope Centre in Korogocho, as the call for the participation for persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible & sustainable post - #COVID19 becomes apparent.

    2. A team from the Embassy visited Keriko secondary school to follow up on an MOU that seeks to ensure food security for the institution. Glad that Peter Tabichi & the principal have made great progress in setting up the necessary infrastructure: Israel-Kenya cooperation.

We installed a greenhouse with ponds & water tanks courtesy of MASHAV that will be used to grow spirulina - a potent source of nutrients which contains a powerful plant-based protein. The school has drilled a borehole & also has an open field for vegetable farming.

The project will be beneficial to the students & teachers for training on #spirulina production, an effort to supplement the school's diet. MASHAV shall donate a drip irrigation kit for the open field to increase production, share knowledge on Israeli agritech.

    3. Finding new opportunities in livestock & bee farming is a commendable effort by Mailua Farm. MASHAV team visited them Kajiado County to share advice & expertise. Issues around drought mitigation, dry land farming, water mngnt & animal feed production were discussed.
They also took time to enjoy the #maasai culture and shared a meal with the area chief and locals.

    4. "Being a successful agri-preneur requires the right mindset & determination, then will you enjoy the fruits". Great lessons from the-learning by doing - 11 month training in Israel (Arava International Center for Agricultural  Training). Onion doctor LTD continues to inspire other young #Kenyans into agri-business.

    5. Happy Independence Day to the President and People of Tanzania. As you mark 60 years we are proud of the many achievements we have enjoyed together. We look forward to many more cordial collaborations.

    6. Hongera #Kenya on the celebration of the country's Independence Day. Great strides have been achieved in infrastructure, agriculture, health, ICT & more. Israel wishes you great success and looks forward to continue the different partnerships.
