The Embassy of Israel together with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in has welcomed back to Kenya, 102 Agriculture students who went to Israel on an eleven month internship programme, where they were trained on innovative agricultural practices, as well as got paid for the work they did in the farms.
H.E. Yahel Vilan welcomed the students back and urged them not to let what they had learnt go down the drain. “This is one of the most fulfilling projects I have witnessed, during my tenure in office. To hear the stories of transformed young agriculturalists is very encouraging,” said Amb. Vilan.
Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, congratulated the graduates and wished them well in their endevours. “Now that you are back with an idea, take up the government funding of Youth Funds to further your course,” said CS Wamalwa.
The students were very excited from their travel to Israel and they confirmed that they learnt a lot that has made them better individuals who view life in a more determined way, as mentored by their Israeli tutors.
Another batch of 120 students leaves for Israel in July 2017. This programme is also replicated by the government of Israel in Uganda, Tanzania, and Malawi.
