    ​17 January, a Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held at the new premises of the Israeli Embassy in Nairobi. Presiding the ceremony as the Chief Guest was Principal Secretary (PS) for Kenya Foreign Affairs Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’Oei. PS underscored the lasting, reliable partnership Kenya has with Israel.
     

    The honor to raise the flag of Israel was awarded to Tsviya Shimon Head of Bureau for Properties & Services Management of Israel MFA, leading the project of building a new Embassy who was accompanied by Maayan Chen Almagor Chief Administrative Officer & Consul @IsraelinKenya​.
     
    The ribbon to mark the opening of the new premises was cut by the PS for MFA of Kenya Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, H.E. Amb. Michael Lotem & Idit Bashan Deputy Director General to Administration and Organization Division of Israel MFA.
     
    Thanks to Issy & Sophie Somen, who donated the land on which this new Embassy stands to Israel.
    - My brother Jonathan & I could not be prouder to be here at the flag raising for the new complex today, & I know my grandparents' generation would be equally proud, - said Mr. David Somen.
     
    The head of the Nairobi Hebrew Congregation Dr. Silverstein attached a Mezuzah, a sign of a Jewish home, to the front door of the Embassy & says a Hebrew prayer in honor of the act. After guests were invited to a tour of the new premises. Thanks to everyone who took part in the ceremony.
