    NOTARY SERVICE & CERTIFICATES

    The Consulate offers notarial services such as power of attorney, affidavits, etc. The service is only available at the Consulate in person and by appointment. 

    1. Person signing must be able to read & comprehend the document they sign. If the Consul is not convinced that the signer understands the document, the Consul will not sign it without a translation by a certified translator to a language the person signing understands. 

    2. Person signing is required to bring the document they wish to sign. The Consulate does not provide samples of legal documents of any type.

    3. You must bring Photo ID - Passport or Israeli ID document. 

    When notarizing documents related to real estate, the signer’s identity is only verified by passport or ID.

    4. If we cannot complete notarizing documents during the appointment, they will be ready for pick up or to be posted within 5 business days from the day of signing at the Consulate.

    Two ways to notarize a document written in a language the person signing does not understand:

    1. Document can be translated by a certified translator. The translator needs to sign an affidavit ensuring the authenticity and accuracy of the original.

    2. Document can be signed by notary public who speaks the language. The signature of the notary public must be then be authenticated by the Chambre de notaire/Ministry of Justice in the province where you live. Only then do you need to bring the document for authentication to the Consulate.​ 

    You must send to the Consular Services Department the original document with copy of your passport. If a specific ID is mentioned in one of the documents that you want notarized, you must additionally present that ID. 

    The Consulate does not provide ready-made power of attorney documents. You must come with the relevant documentation which needs to be signed in front of the Consul. Processing time for document authentication is one day. 

    The fee for this service is 19.00 CAD for the first signature and 9.00 CAD for each additional signature on the same paper, or copy. Payment is only by debit or credit card. 

    The Consulate does not provide translation. Documents should be translated in advance.

    PROOF OF LIFE CERTIFICATE 

    A person residing abroad who receives allowances from the State of Israel and must prove that s/he is alive may apply to the Consulate with an identifying document for a proof of life certificate. 

    Requirements for life certificate:

    1. Appear in person at the Consulate

    2. Present valid Israeli Passport

    3. No fee if the document is requested by “Misrad HaPnim“ or “Bituah Leumi“​. For other purposes there is a 18.00 CAD fee. 

    Note: the Consulate does not mail Life Certificates to “Bituach Leumi” in Israel. This must be done independently by you.
