for 2013 BIARTS Programme

BIARTS
was established in 1995 as a joint arts programme between the British Council,
the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sport and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign
Affairs to promote training, exchange and co-operation between artists in the
UK and Israel.
The
aims have evolved to create a larger and more dynamic programme which will
support new works of various artistic expression, new institutional
relationships, explore digital art as a platform to reach new audiences,
challenge perceptions and position culture at the forefront of creating change.
The
programme will support a wide range of art disciplines. The programme wishes to
engage with diverse projects and audience.
This
is a call to submit a project proposal which meets the following criteria:

Involves a
bilateral exchange - successful proposals will involve
collaboration, between the UK and Israel and can be between institutions,
festivals or individuals of similar aims.
·
Creates new work -
successful projects will involve developing and showcasing new artistic work.
The proposal may include research trips, scoping visits and residencies.
·
Reaches
audiences - successful projects will involve both professional
activity such as workshops or lectures to a professional audience, and public
engagement for example showcasing, open talks or performances or a digital
element with the potential to use online platforms.

Is able to
secure additional funding - successful projects will need to
demonstrate they are seeking for or are able to secure additional funding for
the project, to increase scale and exposure. The maximum financial support of
BI Arts is 50% of the total project costs.
·
Artistic
ambition, innovation and quality – successful projects will
demonstrate creativity and the ambition to be at the forefront of artistic
development, with a project that seeks to develop the partner’s artistic
abilities.
- Priority will be given
to co-operation between institutions. Projects can be based on
deepening existing partnerships or creating new ones.
