The “Europe Meets Asia in Contemporary Dance” dance festival takes place from September 21-27 in Vietnam’s two main cities, offering audiences in Vietnam the opportunity to experience contemporary dance of a variety of styles from different countries.

The festival’s seven evenings feature the performances by artists from Germany, France, Israel, Japan and Austria, as well as the host country, Vietnam.

The performances move between the real and the imaginary and explore the innermost depths of human beings, staged with breathtaking choreography and impressive light and media installations.

This year Israel introduces to Vietnamese audience a piece namely "Interview" by Idan Sharabi & Dancers. It was inspired by Idan Sharabi's interviewes with several people he met while sitting in different shelters during the Gaza conflict, as well as the dancers he worked with throughout the creative process of this piece. These recordings provide a framework for the dancers to interpret and share their own experience.

The festival is expected to offer an opportunity to bring Vietnamese audiences closer to the diverse expressions of contemporary dance. Meanwhile, the event also allows artists to exchange and share experience, according to Truong Nhuan, Director of the Youth Theatre Vietnam, the official partner of the festival.
