From 21 to 27 November 2011, Israeli President Shimon Peres had an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the invitation of the State President Truong Tan Sang.
During his stay in Vietnam, President Shimon Peres held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
Israeli President Shimon Peres and President Truong Tan San confirmed the signing ceremony of cooperation written documents between Israel and Vietnam, concluding maritime transport agreement and supplementation written document of financial cooperation protocol.
The two countries’ leaders expressed their pleasure at the development of the multi-faceted cooperation over the past time. They affirmed their resolve to boost and further develop their relations in the coming time, especially in science, technology, agriculture, trade, investment and tourism.
The two sides held that cooperation between Vietnam and Israel is yet to match their potential.
The leaders exchanged their views on regional and international issues and expressed their wish to enhance the exchange of information, actively contributing to joint efforts for peace, stability, cooperation and development.
On the occasion, the two sides inked a cooperation agreement on sea transport and a document on financial cooperation. They agreed to soon establish the joint intergovernmental committee.
President Shimon Peres invited President Sang to pay a visit to Israel . President Sang accepted the invitation with pleasure and the visit will be arranged through diplomatic channels.
President Shimon Peres also opened the Vietnam-Israel Business Forum. The Business Forum was successfully organized and proved to be an opportunity to promote knowledge exchange and explore cooperation opportunities between Vietnamese and Israeli partners in the above mentioned areas.

On the last day of his trip, the President had dinner with Israeli community and children in Hanoi.
