In the morning of 09/09/2012, Ms. Meirav Eilon Shahar and Embassy staff visited and brought gifts to the orphans and children with disabilities at social protection center in Hai Duong province. The Embassy delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr Luu Van Ban, director of Labour, Invalids and Society Department, staff and more than 600 students of the center.

Ms. Meirav Eilon Shahar expressed that during her time as Ambassador in Vietnam, she hoped there would be strong connection between the center with similar ones in Israel, helping children with disabilities have more opportunities to access literacy, vocational training and community integration.

Israeli puppet group Far Theatre, who is in Vietnam to compete at the 3rd international puppet festival, voluntarily joined the trip and performed for orphans and children with disability living at the center.

In the afternoon, Ms. Meirav Eilon Shahar and another Israeli puppet group, Key Theatre also came to visit little patients at Heart Disease Center, Hospital E in Hanoi. The children here really enjoyed the puppetry performance and the artist’s instructions on how to make their own puppets. This activity is a continuation of a series of charity activities the Embassy has carried out at Heart Disease Center for the purpose of encouraging the spirit of patients, especially the small patients, helping them recover quickly to return to daily life.
