FILL THE VOID tells the story of an Hassidic family from Tel Aviv. Shira, the youngest daughter, is about to be married off to a promising young man of the same age and background. It’s her dream-come-true, and Shira feels ready and excited, until her sister, Esther, dies unexpectedly during childbirth. The pain and grief that overwhelm the family postpone Shira’s marriage.

Everything changes when an offer is made to match Yochay – the late Esther‘s husband – to a widow from Belgium. Though Yochay feels it is too soon, he realizes he must eventually marry again, but when the girls’ mother discovers that Yochay may leave the country with her only grandchild, she proposes a match between her daughter and her former son-in-law that forces Shira to choose between her heart’s wish and her family duty.
