Authentication of a public document

Authentication of a public document

  •   Authentication of public documents with an apostille stamp and information on the Hague Convention
  •
In 1978, Israel signed and ratified the "Hague Convention on the Abolition of the Verification Requirement for Foreign Public Documents 1961" (hereinafter: the Hague Convention). The purpose of this Convention is to shorten the procedures required for the recognition of a particular State in official documents issued in another State through "apostille approval."

It will be clarified that documents and public documents issued in one of the member states of the above-mentioned Convention and stamped with an apostille stamp are valid for presentation in Israel, without the need for further verification/approval by the diplomatic/consular representative in the Israeli mission.

In addition, for countries that are signatories to the Hague Convention, no further verification by the consular representative of the country to which the document is intended will be required if it has been signed in Israel with an apostille stamp.

The process of signing a document with the apostille stamp is different in every canton in Switzerland.

To stamp documents with an apostille stamp, contact the local authorities to find out how the process is carried out in each canton.

Verification of signature and confirmation of affidavits

Before arriving at the representative office to verify a signature or confirm an affidavit, the arrival must be coordinated with the consular section by telephone.

The signer must be obliged to read and understand verbatim the contents of the document he is signing in Hebrew or English.
