The connection between technology and your health may seem far-off, but key inventions
made by brilliant Israeli medical and scientific minds are bridging the gap and bringing
health improvement into the future.
One of the most complex medical procedures for both patients and doctors - surgery,
and particularly spine surgery - is being made safer and easier for physicians to carry out
using a robotic guidance system developed by Israeli company Mazor Robotics. Numerous
drugs for complex and currently incurable neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s,
Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis, were also developed in Israel. Breakthrough diabetes,
cancer and infectious disease monitoring methods, such as patches, clips and other non-
invasive technologies, are being developed in Israel, as well as online platforms that help
patients communicate with their doctors and manage their health regimen.
Israelis are also the inventors of key physical therapy breakthroughs like the ReWalk exoskeleton
that enables paraplegics to walk, as well as AposTherapy shoes, proven to significantly
ease knee, back and hip pain with regular use. In addition, Israeli research into the fields of
nanomedicine and noninvasive treatments, like the endoscopic pill cam, has turned the tide
on how doctors and medical innovators think about treatments and the future of health.
